I’ve heard speakers make an excellent presentation, and then conclude with, “Well, that’s all I have to say. Are there any questions or comments?”

This is a bad idea because it puts the speaker at the mercy of anyone who might make a comment or ask a question.

If you take questions or comments at the end of your remarks, keep in reserve some well-thought-out conclusion, a module to use after you take the final question. You might say something like, “….Thank you for your questions and comments.  In conclusion, I’d like to emphasize….”

If you do it this way, your conclusion can be as powerful as your introduction, perhaps more powerful.
